Just over 20 years ago, Martin Paquette, founder of the Nordik and Thermea Spa Villages, experienced the intensity of a hot sauna, a powerful rush of adrenalin after a cold plunge, and the bliss of regained balance in a moment of rest. In just 30 minutes, he experienced the same incredible energy you feel after running for kilometres. At that moment, he had only one idea: to share this experience—which does so much good for the heart, body and mind—with as many as he could.

At the end of a dirt road, nestled in the heart of a Quebec forest, Nordik Spa Village took shape. As evening fell, the small community of builders gathered around a fire lit in a large cast-iron cauldron—now the signature of our Spa Villages. The cauldron symbolizes the experience and warmth of our community.

A Village Sheltered from Everyday Worries

In 2005, Nordik Spa Village Chelsea's Artisan-Villagers welcomed their very first guests. With saunas, baths, rest areas, gourmet spaces, Aufguss rituals and an underground saltwater pool where one can float peacefully, each place and experience represents our unique way of bringing to life Nordic spa traditions and the essence of sweat culture. An experience like nowhere else, where a feeling of relaxation and bliss at its most elemental lets you reconnect with nature and the elements, with your inner smile and the joy of being together.

Bringing a Happy Elsewhere to More People

The success of this first Village spurred our community of builders to break new ground. In 2015, Thermea Spa Village Winnipeg lit its first fire, making it the first Nordic spa in the Canadian Prairies. Then, in 2022, in the Greater Toronto Area, it was Thermea Spa Village Whitby's turn.
“We do things with great care and attention to detail, which can be felt throughout our Villages. It’s never about being the best, but about being the favourite.”

The Symbol of a Happy Community

Sauna hats on, tools and ingredients in hand, two Artisans return from an excursion carrying a cauldron, a symbol of togetherness and warmth. Heading toward the heart of the Village, everyone awaits them to experience happiness like nowhere else.
