As a busy mom, it is hard to carve out time just for myself. Between extracurriculars, birthday parties and balancing work schedules, there is never enough time to give myself the “self-care” we’re all told we need. Instead of trying to squeeze in a hot shower, or an at-home face mask, I knew the only way I could truly indulge was to escape for a day and treat myself to dedicated “me time” at Thermea Spa Village.
Being a mom is amazing and so fulfilling, but it was time to fill my own cup for a day!
Slow Start to my Morning

My days are hectic from the moment my toddler comes barreling into my room full of energy—so, I knew my first stop would be the Lounge to enjoy a hot coffee and take in the view. The chirping of the birds, smell of the fire, and the sounds of the waterfalls gave me such a sense of calm. I instantly felt relaxed and knew this was going to be a great day.
I enjoyed a light breakfast with a yogurt parfait and blueberry cheesecake croissant, while planning out my day based on the Village Rituals offered throughout the village.

Pure Relaxation

The morning air had a slight coolness to it—perfect for enjoying one of my favourite spots: the Himalayan Salt Sauna. It is incredibly soothing to fully immerse yourself into the warm glowing atmosphere of this space.
Afterward I took a cold dip and rested by the fire while reading. I was already starting to feel truly relaxed. Although my mind hadn’t completely shut off from endless lists and appointments, I had to remind myself that, here, I could disconnect and focus on my well-being. With the help of one of their guided meditations—focused on kindness, specifically self-kindness—I was able to quiet my mind, even if just for a short while. It was the perfect fit for this visit.
New Favourite Experience Unlocked

I had never tried the Kalla floatation pool before. Although I had heard amazing reviews, I just hadn’t managed to squeeze it into one of my previous visits before. Wow—was I ever missing out! Not only is the dimly lit atmosphere stunning, but the floating experience itself is so unique. With calming music playing softly through the water, I lost all track of time and nearly fell asleep.
This was a complete escape from reality and a full mental reset. I must have been floating for nearly an hour. When I came out, I felt as though I had just woken from a full night’s rest.

Dining and Lounging

By then, I was really feeling rejuvenated and at peace with my much-needed break. Throughout the afternoon I was able to try out some delicious menu items both in the Lounge and Biergarden. These little indulgences added to my self-care experience by nourishing my body, which is something most mothers put last on their list!
In between snacks, I spent some time enjoying the spaces throughout the village. I love how each rest area offers something a little different. Whether you’re looking to take a nap wrapped in a cozy blanket, sit by a crackling fire, or sway in a hammock, there is a perfect spot waiting to match your mood.
Recharged and Ready to Go

Taking a full day to myself felt like a complete reset. It reminded me that it is necessary to my motherhood journey to take a break before burning out—I can’t take care of others if I don’t take care of myself.
Simple joys like a quiet morning, a hot coffee, dedicating time to read and practising meditation, really had me feeling grounded and more like me again. It was a gentle reminder that rest is not a luxury—it is essential.

Consider this as your sign if you’re running on empty this Mother’s Day. Take a moment to pause, breathe and treat yourself to your very own day of reconnection and self-care—or give someone else a chance to recharge their batteries.
