Have you heard about June’s hottest event? On the 17, 18 and 19, Aufgusshow—Canada’s first National Sauna Performance Championship—will take over Thermea Spa Village Whitby. Whether you’ve booked your tickets already or it’s on your to-do list, here is our guide to being the best spectator ever.

How to Make the Most of the Aufgusshow Experience

In the Logga Sauna

Leave your water bottle and sandals outside the sauna (we recommend leaving any personal items in your locker).
When you walk into the sauna, make sure to bring your towel to sit on.
Sit at your level. The higher you sit in the sauna, the hotter it feels. Show Aufguss get really hot, so make sure to sit at a level you’re comfortable with.
Wear the sauna hat that’s included in your ticket. The hat protects your head from the heat, regulates your body temperature and lets you stay in the sauna longer.

After the Show

Make sure you complete the thermal cycle—hot, cold, rest— after each performance.
If you have time, familiarize yourself with your options before the ritual. Will you head to the cold showers, a temperate bath or a cold plunge?
The rest step is just as important as the other two. Head to a pergola, the hammock forest, the A-frame, the Prospector tent or any other relaxation space and rest for at least 20 minutes.
Stay hydrated! You can refill your reusable non-glass water bottle at multiple refill stations in the Spa Village.
In Between Performances

Your Aufgusshow ticket includes full access to the Spa Village—make the most of it!
If you can’t get enough of Aufguss rituals, our classic Village Rituals will take place between performances.
Experience our other installations like our exfoliation station, the eucalyptus steam sauna or the halotherapy one or laze about in a temperate bath until the next performance.
Don’t forget to fuel up! Our three restaurants offer seasonal menus.
Insider tip: the Biergarden will hold a chill zone during Aufgusshow where you can meet competitors and our sponsors!
